Our Services Our ServicesWhat is orthodontic treatment? We treat a wide range of orthodontic problems under the NHS and privately. The focus for NHS care is to treat the more needy patients with moderate to severe malocclusions. This follows the changes in NHS funding since 2006 with IOTN (Index of Orthodontic Treatment Need) being used to grade NHS patients. For more information on eligibility for NHS orthodontics, see the weblink below: http://www.bos.org.uk/orthodonticsandyou/orthodonticsandthenhs/whatisiotn.htm Our PatientsWe pride ourselves on being able to treat the majority of patients referred to us including the more complex cases. We take on NHS patients from IOTN grades 5, 4 and 3 (with aesthetic score of 6 or more). Some children have low IOTN grades but may still benefit from orthodontics, and care can be offered on a private basis. All adults are seen privately. Treatment is more affordable than most people think as our fees are set at a highly competitive level for this region, with the option to spread payments over the entire treatment period with no credit charges. NHS TreatmentNHS treatment is available to children under the age of 18. We only accept NHS patients who have been referred by their general dentist. Not all patients referred on the NHS will be eligible for NHS brace treatment. We adhere to strict guidelines laid down for us by the government (Department of Health) and can only treat the more severe cases on the NHS. NHS appointments are scheduled 9am-1pm and 2pm-3.30pm. Tooth coloured (aesthetic) or "invisible" braces are unfortunately not available on the NHS. We have various options to make paying for treatment more manageable for instance we offer 0% payment plans over periods of up to 24 months. For those who wish to pay the full fee in advance we offer a 5% discount. Private TreatmentWe offer private treatment to children and adults at Southsea Orthodontic Practice. Private treatment allows a wider choice of braces including those which are nearly invisible. We can also offer appointments at more convenient times. For more information on different types of braces please clickhere. For information about the cost and payment methods associated with private treatment please clickhere. The private assessment fee is £50, but is refunded later if you proceed with treatment. Your Orthodontist will examine your face, mouth and teeth. Xrays may be taken of your teeth and jaws. We will then be able to provide you with a verbal treatment plan and approximate cost. No actual treatment will be started at this first appointment. Private treatment is available from as little as 95 per month, and allows us to start almost straight away using a wider variety of braces. We are also able to schedule appointments outside of work/school hours.
